Getting into a flow for the Indian designs and i still got some more ideas to flesh out. Based on the story, their wardrobe is a mix of both the American and Indians takin a cue from the era in history when the cultures got more accustomed to each other....anyways it makes it more fun to design.

4000 feet of film later.... The film has a running time of 72 min. Shot on (2) 16mm cameras. Had to be shot one and a half times due to a re-cast of the main character when the shoot was almost finished and 5 years later, finally completed.

Creatur by Jardon Films will have it's premier in Chicago. It is an Official Selection for the 2009 Chicago Filipino American Film Festival on Nov.8

Now that we're finished making the movie, the hard part begins....distribution and a bunch of legal forms.

Furlee : "Brown Baby"

This is a music video that we shot November '08 for my friend Albert and a young Chicago MC named Furlee, who previously recorded an album with his partner Roper under the group name "The Landlords".

We shot the video, again on our 16mm Bolex. I will be helping promote Furlee in the coming months with this video and designing his album cover. I really like Furlee's style of hip hop, his flow and what he talks about, which made it that much easier to working with him-plus the fact we're from the same district of Chicago where i grew up. check it out!.....for those in the know, dont ask about the movie. we are at the final stretch (which we know, the beggining and end of a project is the toughest) and have prioritized completing it this October for early submissions for 2010 film fest season. wish us luck!

CA'BOYZ....one of these days i'll do this book. but, these designs are still too out there for what i have in mind. too anime, even tho' im lookin at anime for inspiration. one thing i like is the intertwining fabrics, i just gotta simplify.

SKWERL....learning that classic animation style...been looking...okay watching alot of tom and jerry..man, stuff never old.

PAW....the head piece is gonna go but i couldnt resist. the rest would probably stay for the cowboy book. im color testing this one so its in progress.

RYU....just watched a street fighter cartoon and bought back an oooold idea from my first 'superhero' comicbook. im gathering some idea's from that concept and bringin' back but i dont have any plans to do a book on 'em...just fun. plus im gonna finish coloring it.

...ive always been looking for my preronal style so i never actually practiced conventional animation style. like tom and jerry and bugs bunny....my 'animation/cartoon' style has all really been 'graffiti' style, which really limits itself after a while. this weekend was an all out study of conventional animation..with my style. this week im goiong to continue studying this and tone my style down.

so like they say its back to the drawing board, but its really exciting for me because its an all new different approach to drawing, and i feel like its the first time drawing again..which is pretty neat.

...so im back in the sketchbook practicing, anything and everything. im having a good time this time around since i got no projects or deadlines. this time its just for the love of drawing and im taking my time learning. usually im in a rush to learn things that i cant do or have problems with so the result is usually a temporay fix to something im not accustomed to drawing.

y'know i kinda forget why i draw since drawing isnt just a hobby at this point of my life. it was funner as a kid coz i just drew anything for the sake of drawing, without competition in mind or marketing or sales... i think its good to keep that in mind.

..still having trouble with the bones and skinning..although the polycount on these are averaging upwards in the thousands..the thought of clicking. all. those. vertices. is. unispiring....so i did the next best thing and messed with the textures, mapping and a little camera rendering.

....so, the film is missing 10 minutes that required 3 days of filming that we were unable to produce.

when the problems are resolved and the dust settles we'll continue filming. film developing and editing may begin in march and from there we may simultaneously shoot what we're missing.

we're still confident that we can finish this film mid-year. because we're already planning another feature that we may begin shooting next year......called 'hate'.

so back to maya and comics! ive been really taking the time to design the comic, characters and elements. especially after seeing 'metropolis'. i never saw the whole thing until now, but the version i have is mind blowing, especially for 1927. the next day i bought a newer version on amazon. more on this later...

more on comics later too, for now heres my first maya texturing.

okay so i was supposed to be learning flash this weekend but the revised trailer arrived on friday. my bud Rich B. has been re-editing and we added a sort of 'making of', with still photography and the digital footage. when it arrived i went straight to work on the cover art and inside sleeve. this DVD was made for sponsorship purposes ans we crammed most of our information in the DVD. Still Photography is mandatory when submitting film. its pretty amazing what a bunch of amateurs can do when we put our noggins together.

ahh, drawing women. my favorite. getting my drawing hand back into the flow usually starts with about a hundred really rough anatomy sketches. when i feel like im almost warmed up i gotta draw something, usually its women. other than the obvious, as we know women are just harder to draw.

the thought behind these were actually for oil painting. yet another thing on the backburner. But im still thinking of it and mentally ramping up to do it. ive never handled my 'comic' style art as paintings, so i think by the time i actually do it it may take on a totally different look into itself. eh, we'll see i guess.

this is a story that was put in the backburner. not quite sure waht to do with it but it was written with cartoon in mind. it looks space age but its really just about some inventive kids who can make anything from anything to do battle with a 'grown up' mad scientist. maybe one day i'll something with it, but for now i gave one character some 3D lovin' in Maya. scroll down to see it in the Maya stuff.

well, i cant stop drawing these chunky graffiti people. alot of these are characters from the 'West of Heaven' comic short i did a while ago. the cool thing is that these sketches will be added into the 'creatur' movie project, since the story revolves around an artist. the first sketch below was made specifically for the creatur film. the characters and the car on the side, mimic there on screen counterparts.

tHE cREAtuR film

The film is progressively moving forward. The rough trailer that was shown, is being re-edited and fine tuned as i write this. This project is my main focus right now has been in the works since 2003. i think its my longest project i ever dedicated my self to (so far). and we still have alot of shit to do before anyone can pop it into there DVD player and just watch it.

Re-Shooting starts in Decenber of 2006 for a scheduled 14 days shoot. I'll be there for 21 days to make sure everything gets covered and so we can shoot at a more relaxing schedule. last year we shot aggresively - every day - for 60 days. But we finished 75% of the film. I hope we finish principle photography this year 'coz filming this thing is a bitch!
